An anecdotal sampling of coverage suggests that nuclear imagery is making a small, but increasing appearance in television news coverage of Russia's invasion of Ukraine across both Russian and Ukrainian channels, such as the image above that comes from Ukraine's Espresso on April 30th. The chyron text is "ЯДЕРНИЙ ШАНТАЖ РОСІЇ" which translates as "Russia's Nuclear Blackmail."

One area of research we are hoping to seed in the near future is the ability to utilize automated image scanning tools to catalog such imagery and enable the creation of live timelines of its prevalence and context over time.
