This new paper by Haewoon Kwak and Jisun An of the Qatar Computing Research Institute, titled "Revealing the Hidden Patterns of News Photos: Analysis of Millions of News Photos Using GDELT and Deep Learning-based Vision APIs" and published in The First Workshop on News and Public Opinion (NECO '16) uses the new GDELT Visual Global Knowledge Graph to explore the patterns of global news imagery visible through the deep learning tagging that Google's Cloud Vision API applies.
