Mentions of “inequality” and “unequal” increased substantially on television news from Oct. 2011 through Apr. 2016, but as the 2016 presidential race heated up and Donald Trump was elected, the topics all but disappeared from the news. In Jan. 2019 they made a slight comeback and have increased slightly this year, but June has marked a sharp surge in coverage.
