The catchphrase “in this together” has emerged as one of the iconic statements of the Covid-19 era, intended to mean all of America must band together to accept the hardships of the economic shutdown and social distancing, while at the same time criticized as papering over the sharply disparate economic impacts the shutdown has had on Americans.
