Television news channels CNN, MSNBC and Fox News first started mentioning masks at measurable levels starting on Feb. 26 and fully embraced the topic from Mar. 18. Mentions peaked on Apr. 4, the same as online news and online news imagery. Mentions of masks then collapsed until around Apr. 28 when they started rising again through a peak of May 27, before dropping off again with the George Floyd protests. Mentions began rising again from around June 9 until July 3 and have dropped off since. Through May 1, all three channels mentioned masks roughly equally, but from May 2, Fox News has mentioned them the least, followed by MSNBC, while CNN has heavily emphasized masks in its coverage.
