Last Saturday Condoleezza Rice and Robert M. Gates published an op-ed in the Washington Post suggesting time was not on Ukraine's side in the Russian invasion. In turn, Tucker Carlson expanded on this narrative in his show the following Monday, leading in turn to Russian television broadcasting clips from Carlson's in what has become a familiar pipeline of arguments from Western media broadcast to the Russian public as evidence of Russia's righteousness or inevitable victory. In this case, clips from Carlson's show were excerpted at least four times on Russian media the following day:
