From its sudden debut on March 20th, CNN's COVID-19 dashboard was an ever-present fixture of the channel's reporting, displayed for 9 hours a day every single day. The channel removed it while covering the George Floyd protests, but when it ramped its appearance back up, it has been far more uneven, removed during major stories and largely fading away at the end of last month as CNN ramped up its protest coverage, before coming back. The dashboard also largely disappeared during its Justice Ginsburg coverage on September 19. MSNBC has also stopped citing "Johns Hopkins" onscreen since the end of last month, though it is unclear if it has developed an alternative dashboard.
