Looking internationally, The chart below shows the total number of times "Hong Kong" was mentioned on Al Jazeera, BBC News, CNN, DeutscheWelle, Fox News, MSNBC and Russia Today from January 1, 2019 through present (all stations show a mention curve that aligns with the current protests and a random sampling of their coverage suggests the majority of mentions are about the protests).
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the graph below is a reminder of just how differently the media in each country covers global events and just how narrow our own view can often be.
