Historically the Visual Global Knowledge Graph (VGKG) has only processed articles found in the GKG, which limited it to the 65 languages covered by the GKG and only those articles containing at least one metadata type analyzed by the GKG. The VGKG's transition to GDELT 3.0 means it now considers images found in all 152 languages monitored by GDELT and include images that do not contain any recognizable GKG metadata, greatly expanding its reach. While all non-ASCII characters are JSON-escaped, workflows should anticipate a considerable increase in the diversity of languages found in the VGKG moving forward.
