The rising cost of diesel fuel and its impact on the cost of shipping has become a growing issue in the leadup to the midterm elections, with the timeline below showing it is being mentioned on CNN and MSNBC/MSNOW many times more than it has in the last 17 years (the data begins in July 2009). Interestingly, however, Fox News is covering diesel cost more than it has in recent months, but not more than it did in early 2022 during Covid under Biden. In fact, since March of this year CNN and MSNOW have been covering diesel far more than Fox News, with more than 3 times as many mentions the past month and a half compared with Fox News.
