Using Chyron Correlation To Detect Contested Narratives

One of the most interesting findings of our chyron correlation analysis is the way in which it so clearly surfaces days with contested narratives. Inter-channel correlations of chyron text remain relatively stable except for sharp single-day or brief multi-day depatures corresponding to days emphasizing highly contested and partisan narratives, such as impeachment, in which CNN, MSNBC and Fox News have very different takes.

In the future, daily chyron correlation deviations could be used as a powerful signal to autonomously detect these kinds of contested narratives.
