Yesterday we unveiled the incredible results of a massive new collaboration with the Internet Archive's TV News Archive to use Gemini to create a catalog of all of the stories covered in 15 years of evening news broadcasts, allowing journalists and scholars to understand coverage at the level of "stories" rather than keyword mentions. These results were so promising that we wanted to revisit our earlier experiments applying the same workflow to a broader array of news, personality-driven and news commentary broadcasts. Here we explore six broadcasts (2 each from CNN, MSNBC and Fox News) from July 15th across a range of broadcast types to see how well our workflow holds at accurately cataloging the major stories discussed in each broadcast and assessing their locations, emotions, framing and narrative structure.
Despite the highly diverse array of formats, structures and show types, our Gemini story cataloging workflow appears to work just as well on these broadcasts as it did on evening news broadcasts, suggesting we should be able to apply the same workflow as-is to a much broader array of broadcasts without modification.
You can see the six broadcasts and their resulting story inventories below.

Despite Trump's efforts, the "MAGA base" and public figures demand transparency and continue to fuel conspiracy theories about a "client list," which former officials deny exists. The situation has raised concerns about the functionality and credibility of the FBI and Justice Department. NARRATIVE STRUCTURE: The narrative opens with Trump's attempts to control the fallout, then delves into the specific internal conflicts within the administration (Bongino/Bondi). It incorporates expert analysis from former FBI officials (McCabe) to discuss the operational impact and the nature of the "client list" theories. The story then widens to include political commentary from both conservative activists (Kirk, Bannon) and Democratic strategists, using the "Ferris Bueller" analogy to describe the public's fixation, and concluding with a discussion of political risks for Democrats.
