Spinmeisters Of Russia: The Doomsday Clock & The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty

Last week, the Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists moved the hands of the Doomsday Clock -10 seconds, largely (though not exclusively) because of the mounting dangers of the war in Ukraine. The Clock now stands at 90 seconds to midnight – the closest to global catastrophe it has ever been.

That same day, a panelist on Russia 1's 60 Minutes recommended that Russia abandon the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and resume testing nuclear weapons as a “warning shot” to NATO that Russia is serious about their potential use of nuclear weapons as part of their war on Ukraine.
