On Television Climate Protests Garnered More Attention Than All But 8 Days Of Paris And Hong Kong Protests

Like worldwide online news, in which Friday's climate change protests garnered more attention than all but two days of the Paris and Hong Kong protests, looking to television news, the climate strike received more attention than all but 8 days of the other two major protests.

The timeline below shows the combined airtime devoted to "("climate change" OR "global warming" OR "climate crisis" OR "climate strike") AND (protests OR protest OR protesters OR riot OR riots OR strike)" and " "hong kong" AND (protests OR protests OR protesters OR riot OR riots) " and " paris AND (protests OR protests OR protesters OR riot OR riots OR "yellow vest" OR "yellow vesters") " on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News from January 2017 to present.

Live Version.

Through September 21st, the climate protests have garnered 300 mentions, the Paris "yellow vest" protests 531 and the Hong Kong protests 2,047. Thus, the Hong Kong protests have been mentioned 6.8 times as much as the climate protests and 3.9 times as much as the Paris protests. However, given that the other two protest movements have gone on for many weeks compared with a single day of the climate strike, on a one-day basis, the climate strike received more attention than all but 7 days of the Hong Kong protests and all but 1 day of the Paris protests.

Fox News has covered both the climate protests and the Parisian yellow vest protests the most, while CNN has covered the Hong Kong protests the most.
