Ever since Culturomics 2.0 showcased the immense insights and hidden predictive power of the geography of the world's news media, geography has featured prominently in the work we do. In 2018 we visualized how every word in our language has a geography of its own – the places it is most commonly associated with. In 2020 we explored how the Global Geographic Graph and Carto's BigQuery connector makes it possible to construct one-click global-scale maps of any arbitrary topic.
We'd love to see what kinds of new geographic applications you are able to come up with, whether using our existing geocoding stream in the Global Geographic Graph or novel systems based on the Web NGrams 3.0 dataset, perhaps utilizing hyperlocal gazeteers to unlock extremely local colloquial geographic names!
