Kalev Named to World Economic Forum Future of Government Global Agenda Council

Back in July we announced that GDELT creator Kalev Leetaru had been named as a  Council Member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on the Future of Government for the 2014-2016 term.  The full council roster has now been released and Kalev serves alongside 18 others including Lord Peter Mandelson, Corrado Passera, Rafal Trzaskowski, Joseph Nye, Uschi Schreiber, Anne-Marie Slaughter, Rod Beckstrom, Jorge Soto, Jean Philbert Nsengimana, and Helen Margetts.   This is an incredible honor and we are absolutely thrilled to have a chance to contribute to such an incredible organization and to work alongside such amazing luminaries!

The digital revolution is transforming politics and the nature of government. From education improvement and tax collection to better healthcare systems and job creation, technology is putting pressure on governments to deliver more with less. Citizens’ voices are increasingly present in public policy-making processes, and their demands for an "always-on", connected government are intensifying through social media. Governments are realizing that technology can act as an enabler to transform government processes, enhancing the provision of public services and enabling higher productivity.
