Indian Glacier Flood Receives Little Airtime On American Television News

The graph below shows the percentage of airtime across a set of US and international television news stations that mentioned the Indian glacier flood that occurred this past Sunday. American channels CNN, MSNBC and Fox News are notable outliers, devoting just a fraction of a fraction of a percent of airtime to the disaster, despite at least 32 dead and more than 170 missing. In contrast, Al Jazeera has focused the most on the disaster, followed by BBC and DW, with even RT spending 2.36 times as much coverage on it as the 3 US channels combined.
