At the scale of the Visual Explorer, spanning more than 9 million broadcasts from 300 channels over 26 years, it is inevitable that there will be some small percentage of recordings with technical issues that prevent them from being readily processed directly through traditional tooling like FFMPEG, CCEXTRACT, etc. Using both agentic and interactive Gemini 3.8 Flash to bring both brute machine force and human creativity to the challenge, we were able to come up with a range of technical fixes and modified workflows that allowed us to sufficiently recover around 130,000 previously inaccessible broadcasts such that we've been able to add them to the Visual Explorer! Many of these broadcasts suffer from heavy audio glitching, audio sync, repeated signal failure and other artifacts that can make them hard to understand, but we are excited to be able to recover this many videos. We've never been able to process this content before, but Gemini 3.8 Flash allowed us to rapidly iterate on a series of workflows that allowed us to recover all of this content: another demonstration of the prototyping capabilities of AI!
