Given the trivial accessibility of modern generative image AI that can create images from textual descriptions, what might the descriptions of a selection of conferences we've spoken at over the past year look like as seen through the eyes of OpenAI's DALL-E? For each of the events below, we used their textual descriptions from their homepages or press releases and fed them into DALL-E, asking it to create an "inspirational image" that represented the event. You can see the final results below. All of the images suffer from various artifacts and abnormalities and DALL-E struggles with text generation for in-image textual labels and background text, but overall the results provide a fascinating glimpse into the imagery of conference descriptions as seen through the eyes of one generative model. Some of the images below yield striking unique visuals that catch the eye, while others yield more generic stock imagery. This raises the fascinating question of whether such "conference theme visualization" could be used by event planners to adjust the language of their event descriptions by using such generative visualizations as a guide to the most visually descriptive and unique wording.
