How often are police seen on television news? The timeline below shows the total seconds of daily airtime since the start of the pandemic in which police were visible onscreen across CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and BBC News London using AI. A massive surge in police imagery is seen around the George Floyd protests, with Fox News leading, but quickly fades away. January 6th surprisingly does not lead to a surge in police imagery, suggesting coverage focused primarily on protesters. Fox news has dominated imagery of police among the four channels.
