The CDC and its director unsurprisingly emerged as the early media go-to's of the Covid-19 pandemic, surging into the headlines especially in late February as the disease's impact on the US accelerated. As the CDC dominated headlines, Fauci begin his ascent into media stardom, followed by Birx late last month. As Fauci and Birx have become mainstays of news coverage, the CDC has faded from the limelight.
