Bloomberg news was among the first channels to report on the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. On Jan. 5 it noted that "hospitals in Hong Kong admitted seven more people with flulike symptoms who had recently traveled to the Chinese city of Wuhan":
Similarly, three days later on January 8, it had this exchange with Hong Kong's tourism minister: "How concerned are you by the reported case of pneumonia coming out of Wujan, China. There's been cases here. Hong Kong, after the experience of SARS, has a very well organized public health system which knows how to deal with these kinds of diseases. Already, the health department is under alert. We have had experience of SARS. We have conquered it and we can conquer this again. I don't think so because it is a Wuhan disease."
