We're excited to announce that with the Internet Archive's recent addition of BBC News to its monitoring archive, the Television Explorer now includes BBC as an available station under its new "International Networks" collection (available under the Television Network dropdown). BBC is our first true international station available in the Television Explorer and we are tremendously excited for future developments in this area.
You will also note that the BBC captioning is higher quality than many US stations – BBC appears to have invested heavily in generating very high quality captioning for its viewers. Unlike other stations, whose captioning is extracted directly from the wire, BBC captioning is rendered onscreen and then OCR'd into searchable text, which is then passed through a special conversion process to realign it to the same segmentation style used by American broadcasts, so you may notice an odd artifact once in a while due to this much more complex processing pipeline.
