We're Not Talking Nearly As Much About "Inflation" As We Did During Covid

With the elections rapidly approaching, inflation and the economy have been receiving considerable attention. However, as the timeline below shows (using 14-day rolling average to smooth it), in terms of total daily mentions, the literal words "inflation" and "inflationary" aren't getting a surge in coverage and are being mentioned just a fraction as much as they did during Covid. Notably, Fox News isn't covering inflation nearly as much as it did during Covid. Of course, this graph traces only mentions of those two literal words and doesn't trace discussion of increasing food, gas, electricity or other prices, but does show overall discussion of the terms "inflation/inflationary" aren't surging in media coverage.
