Denes Csala created this really neat visualization of GDELT by country from 1979 to present for each country, overlaying key events in the country's history over GDELT's trend curves for that country, coupled with some SIR system dynamics models of the underlying dynamics of global conflict, finding some quite interesting cyclic patterns.
