In October 2012, GDELT creator Kalev Leetaru traveled to Washington DC to speak at the International Conference of Crisis Mappers (ICCM 2012) at the World Bank headquarters on the area of Realtime Automated Risk Forecasting, leveraging the emerging world of massive "big data" and enormous computational resources to assess the realtime "pulse" of global society and spatial and temporal trends.
